After paying a short visit to Walker Lake in Nevada I kept driving as I didn’t see any place that I wanted to stop for the night. I drove and drove till it got dark and I found myself just half an hour outside of Reno and Sparks. I never intended to drive that far on my first day out of Vegas! Didn’t even notice how fast the time went by, with the changing geography, and weather. Again I took a close look at my map (which I got for free from AAA because I have membership – big value!) to see if I can find a potential area where I could set up camp for the night. I ended up on a road (447) leading to Pyramid Lake, in Nevada. Take a look at the short video below (about a minute and a half) to see my camping area.
On my second day out of Vegas I traveled from my camping site in Nevada to my last camping place before arriving home in Vancouver. Here’s the route I took:

I’ve been to Susanville CA before, and decided to stop there for a quick burger at McDonald’s. It’s a rare occasion that I would eat there, but this was one of them. After leaving Susanville I drove through Lassen Park, a fantastic area that I visited in the summer before, but today there was a snowstorm! It lasted about 20 minutes, while driving, of course, but nevertheless it was impressive. Check out what I saw in the short video below (about 2 minutes).
Check out some of the scenes and sights I encountered on my way:
- Somewhere not far from Wadsworth, NV
- House in Wadsworth, NV - train wagon
- My rescued cowgirl, Nevada
- Outside Sparks, Nevada on the 395
- Northwest of Sparks and Reno on the 395 - almost California
- Rest stop on the I5, near exit 751, California
- Black Butte, California, on the I5
- Mt Shasta in the spring, rest stop on I5 near exit 751
