Bart Leaves Las Vegas

May 12, 2010

On the afternoon of Friday, April 2 I checked out of the El Cortez Hotel and Casino where I stayed in Vegas, filled up my gas tank, drove my friends to the airport so that they could continue on their way back to Buenos Aires, and headed north out of town on Highway 95, back towards Vancouver BC. I decided to take a different route back, just to see what it’s like.

I was actually surprised how far I traveled that day. After leaving Vegas in the afternoon, I arrived, when it was already dark, at some sort of ranch on Highway 447, just north of Wadsworth, Nevada – more on that in the next post and video. Here’s the route I took from Vegas that Friday:

Take a look at the short video below (about 5 min) to see the landscape I saw, and the dust storms I got caught in.

Take a look at some of the pictures I took on the way:
Walker Lake was another place I stopped at that day. I saw this lake on the map and thought it would be a good place to camp for the night, but unfortunately the wind was super strong, and it was really cold, so I didn’t stay the night there. Take a look a the short video below (about 2 min) to see my visit to Walker Lake, Nevada.
